We work alongside the Omega Foundation, an organisation based in Kenya with a focus on health and education. We’ve worked together since 2005, when we built Kochogo Integrated Children’s Development Centre. Kochogo provides nutritional support to 180 children and 11 elderly community members, along with access to medical care and psycho-social support.
The Omega Foundation recently joined the First Lady of Kenya, Margaret Gakuo Kenyatta, at an event to launch a mobile clinic in Kisumu as part of the Beyond Zero campaign.
The Beyond Zero campaign was set up by the First Lady of Kenya in December 2013. It focusses on the advancement of progress in HIV control and the promotion of maternal, neo-natal and child health. The campaign is part of the Strategic Framework for the engagement of the First Lady in HIV control and promotion of maternal, newborn and child health in Kenya, presented on World Aids Day 2013. One aspect of the Beyond Zero campaign is to provide mobile clinics to those with limited access to healthcare, which is prevalent in rural populations.

An event was organised to celebrate the launch of this mobile clinic by the Ministry Health and local partners working in maternal and neo-natal health at Otieno Oyoo Secondary school. Along with the Omega Foundation, organisations such as Kisumu County Health Teams, UNICEF and Care Kenya also attended to showcase their work.
The event was a success and a wonderful opportunity for the Omega Foundation to share their progress on maternal and child health issues. Great job to you all!
