Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in the cost?
Your trip fee covers: accommodation from Saturday – Saturday at a series of safari lodges, camps and resorts; transport from Nairobi to the start point on the opening Saturday and return to Nairobi on the following Saturday; food and water – 3 daily meals, and snacks and water throughout the day; a mountain bike, mechanics and guides, National Park entrance fees and permits.
Do I have to fundraise to take part?
Yes. We ask that all participants commit to fundraising £1,800 (€2,000). It is our job to guide and support you to reach this target and we’ll be on hand to support you all the way. If you are nervous about fundraising, please give us a call or get in touch. We are professional fundraisers so we’ll give you all the tips and tricks we have! Alternatively, you can choose to donate the £1,800 target. Get in touch with the team if you’d like this option.
Do you have discounts for groups/teams?
Yes – groups of 10 or more are eligible for a 10% discount on their trip fees. Speak to the team for more information.
How fit do I need to be to take part?
Ride Africa cover ~500km in 5 days. It’s an achievable distance, but the conditions will be tough (lumpy bumpy tracks in Kenyan heat!).  We recommend you follow our 12-week training plan and the advice we have on our training page to make sure you are ready to for our cycling adventure.
Ride Africa is not a race and no one gets left behind. We have a broom wagon following us for anyone who needs a break/rest and will manage our pace to keep the group together. If you need to take a day out, or an afternoon to rest, the broom wagon is there for you.

Can I choose which festival I want to volunteer at?
Yes. Once the festivals are announced there will be a link to register as a Concierge on each event page, via the menu. Registrations will open early in 2024.
What volunteer roles are available?
There are four roles available:
• General services (drinks delivery in main arenas and tent pitching).
• Golf buggy taxi driver.
• Ground crew managing the taxi service.
• Team leader.
What dates do I need to be available?
It depends which festival you are signed up for. The dates are as follows:
Latitude: 24th – 29th July 2024
Camp Bestival Dorset: 24th – 29st July 2024
Wilderness: 31st July – 5th August 2023
Camp Bestival Shropshire: 14th – 19th August 2023
When will I know if I have been successful?
You will automatically be accepted to the festival when you pay your deposit, so unless you hear otherwise, your registration is automatically successful. Charity Concierge registration will open early in 2024.

How does Charity Concierge support Child.org?
Our volunteers raise money at festivals by providing a variety of services: buggy ‘taxis’, tent pitching and serving drinks. The money you raise provides Child.org with valuable unrestricted income to develop and expand our life-saving Team Mum initiative. In 2023, Charity Concierge raised a whopping £88,000 which we will use to support even more mums and babies.
