  • Scimitar supports Child.org’s Ride Africa

Scimitar is proud to support charity partner Child.org, a charity based in Kenya with their fundraising team based in the UK, in their ongoing series of Ride Africa cycling safaris—annual fundraising expeditions that span across breath-taking Kenyan landscapes, all enhanced by our custom Scimitar cycling apparel.

Powerful Fundraising initiatives

These challenges are powerful fundraising initiatives, with the last challenge seeing riders take on up to 500km safari cycle rides across Kenya’s breath-taking national parks, over just 5 days.

Cyclists from all walks of life come together for the experience of a lifetime, journeying from Lake Nakuru to the Maasai Mara. Riders pedalled past giraffes, wildebeest, zebras and even rhinos – an extraordinary, immersive journey made even more meaningful by the cause behind it.

Riding for Maternal and Child Health in Kenya

While the safari offered unforgettable moments and stunning views, the true power of Ride Africa lies in its impact. Every rider raises funds for Child.org, a UK-based charity working to improve maternal health outcomes in Kenya. Since 2020, the Ride Africa events have raised over £800,000, helping the charity work with more than 10,000 pregnant women!

This fundraising is unrestricted – allowing Child.org to stay responsive, tailor programmes to real-world needs, and adapt rapidly in a changing landscape which is vital to this sort of work, enabling the charity to provide the very best support through working tirelessly with county governments and communities in Kenya to design and deliver effective solutions with efficiency.

A Trusted Partnership

This isn’t just about kit – it’s about support. When a shipment of jerseys was delayed in 2022, a member of the Scimitar team drove the delivery to Child.org’s team personally to make sure they made their flight. That’s the kind of service that our team always we aim to provide for our partners.

We were concerned it wouldn’t arrive in time for our flight to Kenya, but a member of the Scimitar team drove the jerseys to my house personally. I was very impressed and relieved!

Hattie – Communications & Fundraising Officer, Child.org
