  • The HealthStart Pilot – a published review

“These results are encouraging and demonstrate that complex schools health programmes can lead to positive gains in health, nutrition and importantly academic performance. There is a need for further evaluation of comprehensive school health interventions in poor communities.” ADC

We are so keen to share anything we learn, and our HealthStart pilot taught us a great deal about how to tackle health in primary schools in Kenya. Our researchers James Bogie and Ben Eder, along with our Co-founder Dan Magnus, David Onguko of our parner Ogra Foundation and of course our International Programme Manager Martina Gant produced a summary article entitled Horizontal schools-based health programme in rural Kenya that shared our findings.
The Archives of Disease in Childhood is an international peer reviewed journal supported by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. Unfortunately the article is behind a paywall but you can read the abstract here: http://adc.bmj.com/content/early/2017/04/17/archdischild-2016-311605.full
