The role

We are looking for a driven, results-oriented sales manager who will be responsible for selling out our first ever All Women Ride Africa, taking place in July 2019. Ride Africa is a 500km cycle ride across sub Saharan countries like Kenya and Ghana which provides over £250k a year for the charity. We expect the All Women Ride to raise £150k alone.

You will need a proven track record of sales, ideally using cold leads, within a relevant field and a passion for sports and events.

The money raised in this role will go towards our biggest and most ambitious fundraising campaign ever, Team Mum and provide life saving information and support to expectant mums in rural Kenya.

You are the kind of person who wants to have an impact, who likes to throw themselves into something. There is no room for someone who looks forward to 5pm arriving so they can leave. We don’t want you to stay after 5pm very often, but we want you to be unhappy about that.

This job is about selling places to an incredible event.
This will involve liaising with warm contacts as well as generating new leads and attracting new partnerships.

Communication skills

This role is external facing - you will spend a lot of your time with people or on the phone. We need someone in our team who is able communicate clearly and passionately about what we do, and read and understand the people they meet. The confidence to pick up the phone or speak to a huge range of people is vital.

Self direction

You will have the support of the whole team behind you, because that’s how we work at There are also some pretty amazing trustees and volunteers with fundraising and business experience who will be on hand to help. However, we are a small charity and there’s a huge amount to do. This means we need someone who is able to work proactively and under their own initiative, and who thrives on the chance to prove what they can really do.

Key Requirements

  • Creating leads and implementing a sales pipeline in order to sell out 75 spaces on the All Women Ride Africa in July 2019.
  • The push is largely from cold leads so you will have the ability to find and shape your own opportunities.
  • Leading on business development and sales to secure sponsors and corporate partners for existing and future rides
  • You will need to put together a proactive sales strategy and be confident making cold approaches, phone calls and pitches to prospects.
  • Understanding the world of cycling brands and cyclists is a huge advantage.

Obviously, we’d love you to have a huge range of experience in all sorts of areas of sports event management, sales, fundraising, product development and relationship management, but the most important thing is that you know how to close deals and create sales opportunities.
