Ride for Child.org

Ride for Child.org
Get on your bike this autumn and ride for Child.org to help us raise vital funds to support mums and babies in Kenya.

Ride for Child.org this autumn.

Brilliant bike rides have been at the heart of our charity since 2010, and this year is no different! This Saturday 9th October, we want you to get on your bike and join us to ride 60 miles (100km) for Child.org. Whether you're signed up to join us for Ride Africa in 2022 or fancy joining us with family and friends, we'd love you to get on your bikes with us this October and help us raise vital funds to arm more mums and babies in Kenya with life-saving information to help keep them safe and healthy.

When: Saturday 9th October from 9:30am

What: 60 miles, on your bike (you can do this individually or as a team total!)

How will you get involved?

Join Jacob and the squad for a London roll-out or team up with Lucy and ride from Bristol. Based in Kenya? Join Marti! The Child.org team and friends are coordinating activities from London, Bristol, Germany and Kenya. Based somewhere else? Let us know where you're riding from!

Ride and Raise.

We're asking every rider to raise at least £100 (5 friends donating, or one epic bake sale!). If you're taking part in next year's Ride Africa this will count towards your overall fundraising total.

Here's how to get started:

Create your online donation page and ask friends & family to donate. Speak to Jacob (details below) about how to create a team so that you can have a shared goal with other Riders! If you're taking part in Ride Africa, share your page. If you haven't set one up yet, do it now!

Get fundraising! For support, drop us an email at hello@child.org, or check out the resources below.

On Saturday 9th October, however you're joining us, remember to share your ride with us by tagging us @childdotorg on social media! Together, we'll be out riding and fundraising and we want to shout about it!

Your ride matters.

In Kenya, one in 26 babies don't survive to see their first birthday. Pregnancy, birth and raising your baby are all unacceptably dangerous for women in rural Kenya. Very young pregnant women are frequently ostracised and drop out of education, leaving them disempowered and without access to vital health information and services. This combined with high rates of FGM can present complications during pregnancy and childbirth. Child.org run projects that provide mums with vital health information and support so that mums and babies stay safe and healthy throughout pregnancy and childbirth. Your ride fundraising will help us launch further projects to support more new mums and parents - which is awesome!

Want  leaflets, posters and stickers?

Order more general fundraising resources to use at fundraising events. Why not put a poster up at your workplace?

What will my donations be spent on?

Child.org support mums and babies with programmes like our pregnant women's groups and baby box projects to help keep them and their babies safe

Can I use a JustGiving page / Facebook fundraiser / other fundraising platform instead of a Child.org fundraising page?

If you desperately want to. If you use our own donation pages you ensure that 100% of donations come directly to Child.org, and you help more people to learn about the charity. So we'd prefer it. But whatever floats your boat.

What are fundraising awards?

Small gifts that you can offer people in return for donating to support you. You can use them to encourage slightly larger donations and make your donors feel appreciated. We recommend something like:

Donate £10 and I'll record an effusive Thank You video.

Donate £20 and I'll bake you a cupcake

Donate £40 and I'll invite you to the end-of-walk celebration drinks!
