Welcome to my first ever blog!
Hi all, I’m Janice and I’ve just started at Child.org as the Fundraising and Development Officer.
After years of working in an industry that contributed little to humanity I finally did what all all good clichés do; chucked a load of unnecessary items into a backpack and went travelling.
Whilst away I revisited a long-standing interest to work in the Third Sector, after being inspired by social enterprises in Thailand and Cambodia. Meeting orphans and street children made me particularly keen to work for a child-centred organisation.
So I returned to sunny England and worked for a small children’s charity as a Community Fundraiser. I love the variation and creativity of fundraising and particularly enjoy building relationships.
I jumped at the opportunity to join Child.org and the focus of my role will be working with schools, regional groups and university societies.
As a London novice I’m nervous but I’m also excited to be working with Child.org and look forward to getting to know all of you supporters.
